Even if you don’t have the time to finish all 13 episodes, watch the pilot at the very least. While Serenity isn’t bad, any episode of the series that you happen to pick will be better. The basics include Gorram (“Run! It’s the gorram law!”), Ruttin’ (“It’s gettin’ too ruttin’ hot in here.”), and Humped (“He’s got a gun on us. ![]() Gorram carries approximately the same meaning and emotional connotations as the American English term, “God damn.” What does Gorram mean in Chinese? If they really wanted to get across that the source box is a really big change in Simon’s life and also follow the Chinese pattern for saying it (“这是很大的变化”), it would have been best for him to say something like “This is a very da (de) bianhua,” wherein da bianhua maintains its function as a noun phrase.
